The events of Avengers: Infinity War proved tragic for Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, as she had to watch Vision die at the hands of Thanos. However, in the climax to Avengers: Endgame, Wanda struck out in revenge against the Mad Titan, nearly destroying him. Citing that scene, Marvel Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige has now confirmed Scarlet Witch is the most powerful hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
During an appearance at the New York Film Academy, Feige was asked who he thought the strongest hero in the MCU was after the events of Avengers: Endgame. "I think it's interesting, if you look at Endgame, Wanda Maximoff was going to kill Thanos," Feige said. "That's as scared as I've ever seen Thanos, and if he hadn't said Decimate my entire team to get her off of me, I think she would have done it."
Elizabeth Olsen, who debuted as the character in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, will reprise her role as Scarlet Witch for WandaVision, which will air on Disney+. Little is known about the series at this time, though there are a lot of rumors and reports surrounding the production and just how Vision will return from the dead. The streaming series will, however, tie directly into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn. The limited series will premiere on Disney+ in spring 2021.
