Marvel Studios is preparing to debut its first television series, WandaVision, which will kick off a stream of Marvel Cinematic Universe shows debuting on Disney. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has commented on the possibility of these programs diluting the brand-name value of the studio.

"It is not dissimilar to the worries I've had in my first few years at Marvel," Feige explained to Deadline. "Because the Marvel rights were separated among multiple studios, there would be multiple Marvel movies a year. There was one year when there were three in one summer. The question was 'Whoa, how is this going to last? How is this going to survive?' And my answer then, when I had no control over anything, was 'As long as they're different, as long as they're unique and some of the characters might crossover and the Marvel logo is at the front.' But if they're unique and interesting stories, that doesn't go out of style."

Feige also noted that making properties like WandaVision unique will help to avoid Marvel Studios' overexposure. "A black-and-white half-hour sitcom is very different than anything we've done before," Feige observed. "It happens to star two Avengers and has the Marvel logo on it, but is wholly unique and that is what we had been working on for Disney+ and Phase 4 features until we finalized Endgame."

WandaVision kicks off a new age of Marvel Studios, delivering programming for the streaming service Disney+. Other Marvel Studios television shows premiering on the service in the next year include The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki and Ms. Marvel, while other shows on tap for the years ahead include She-Hulk and Moon Knight.

Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes. The series premieres Jan. 15 on Disney+.
