Kevin Bacon is set to return to "Tremors" in a planned television reboot of the sci-fi monster franchise.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Universal Cable Productions and Blumhouse Productions are developing the revival of the 1990 cult film, with Bacon on board as the star and executive producer.

Bacon starred alongside Fred Ward, Finn Carter, Michael Gross and Reba McEntire in the original film, about an isolated area of Nevada plagued by giant killer worms. "Tremors" gave birth to three direct-to-video sequels and a prequel, as well as the short-lived "Tremors: The Series," which aired in 2003 on the Sci-Fi Channel.

Andrew Miller ("The Secret Circle") is on board to write. Blumhouse and UCP are reportedly shopping the project to potential networks.
