It seems this summer, comic fans will be trying to connect actor Kevin Bacon to a Marvel Comics supervillain in seven guesses or less.

Variety has confirmed that the actor has officially signed on as the bad guyalong with actress Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique for Fox's "X-Men: First Class." However, which rogue from the X-Men's storied history the "Hollow Man" actor will play remains tightly under wraps by the studio.

This will mark the second comic-themed role for Bacon in the coming months as the actor recently wrapped a part in "Super" - a comedy send up of the genre starring Rainn Wilson and Liv Tyler. Lawrence is largely an unknown to movie goers with her biggest part before stepping into the shoes of Rebecca Romijn's shape-shifting femme fatale being a regular role on cable sitcom "The Bill Engvall Show."

The pair join a cast that already includes James MacAvoy and Michael Fassbender as Professor X and Magneto and young mutants played by Nicholas Hoult, Caleb Landry Jones and Alice Eve. The film will be directed by Matthew Vaughn from a story idea by executive producer Bryan Singer, and though it hasn't started filming yet, a June 2011 release is planned by the studio.
