Scandal actress Kerry Washington is taking on a BOOM! Studios title as her next project.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Washington is set to both executive produce and star in Old City Blues for Hulu. The series will be based on the BOOM! Studios title of the same name, which was written by Giannis Milonogiannis and first published in 2011.

Old City Blues takes place in the year 2048 in New Athens, which was built on the ruins of the country once known as Greece and is now a city crawling with high-tech criminals, mech smugglers, drug dealers and corrupt politicians. The only people keeping order in the New Athens are Solano, Thermidor and the rest of the New Athens Special Police, who find themselves questioning Hayashi Corporation when the cyborg founder of a tech company is found dead.

It's currently unknown just which role Washington will tackle in the series. However, the project remains in development at Hulu. A writers room has already been opened with Outcast's Chris Black on board to act as showrunner and executive producer, along with Washington and Blacklist screenwriter Arash Amel, who is penning the script for the pilot alongside Allison Davis (Underground). Oscar winner Gore Verbinski (Rango) is on board to helm the project.
