Kerry Washington Lands Lead in Tarantino's Django Unchained

The more news about Quentin Tarantino's upcoming spaghetti Western Django Unchained, the better, especially when it's "confirmed" rather than rumor. Variety reports today that Kerry Washington will play the wife of the titular Django as portrayed by Jamie Foxx in the movie. The pair previously worked together in Ray.

In Django Unchained, Foxx plays a former slave whose wife has been separated from him. Now a bounty hunter, Django has made it his mission to find his wife and get revenge on his former master as well as the sadistic people who work for him. The movie also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson and more to be announced.

With Tarantino's track record of taking genre movies, putting his own twist on them and salting heavily with elements of said genre's previous entries, we're hoping that this does for Westerns what Kill Bill did for martial-arts flicks and Inglourious Basterds did for World War II movies.
