Kelsey Grammer will follow his often-sinister performance as the mayor of Chicago on Starz's Boss with the role of the human villain in Michael Bay's Transformers 4. According to Deadline, he'll play Harold Attinger, described as "a counter-intelligence guy."
The five-time Emmy winner joins Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Nicola Peltz, and Jack Reynor in the film, which will launch a new trilogy for Paramount Pictures and toymaker Hasbro.
Although Bay has revealed few details about the movie, other than it picks up four years after the events of the 2011 blockbuster Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which grossed a series-high $1 billion worldwide. "The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast," he said in January. "This Transformers will feel very different then the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy.”
While known primarily for his work on television series like Cheers, Frasier and Boss, Grammer has numerous films to his credit, most notably X-Men: The Last Stand.
Transformers 4 opens June 27, 2014.
