Keanu Reeves seems to fully embrace his action-movie potential these days. After releasing a pair of kung fu movies in 2013 -- 47 Ronin and his first directing job, Man of Tai Chi -- the actor will try his hand at revenge films with John Wick.

"An ex-hitman comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters that took everything from him," the movie's website states. "With New York City as his bullet-riddled playground. JOHN WICK (Keanu Reeves) is a fresh and stylized take on the 'assassin genre.'"

John Wick also stars Willem Dafoe, Adrianne Palicki, Bridget Moynahan, Ian McShane and Jason Isaacs.

The film marks the directorial debut of Chad Stahelski, who worked with Reeves in the stunt department on The Matrix and Constantine. The script was penned by Derek Kolstad, who wrote the Dolph Lundgren-Cuba Gooding Jr. 2012 actioner One in the Chamber.

Here's the debut trailer for the movie, which opens on Oct. 24.
