Buzz Lightyear voice actor Tim Allen let slip last month that none other than John Wick himself, Keanu Reeves, has a great role in the upcoming Toy Story 4, set to hit theaters in June of 2019. While Allen didn't reveal too much about Reeves' role, a recent interview with Reeves has shed some light on how he scored the role in the film.
In an interview with Collider while promoting his next film, Replicas, Reeves confirmed his casting in Toy Story 4 while revealing how he landed a role in his first studio animation film. "I got a call which was really cool out the blue from the lovely people at Pixar and the creators of this number, this edition, or continuation of the story," Reeves said. "They pitched the character to me and then we spoke and they allowed me to kind of riff on it."
Unfortunately, Reeves didn't divulge any details about his role in the film - Disney and Pixar have been keeping plot details tightly under wraps - though he did mention that he'd completed four recording sessions thus far. Allen did note last month that Reeves' character has a similar edge to Buzz Lightyear but is relatively small in stature compared to Buzz.
Directed by Josh Cooley, Toy Story 4 stars Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Don Rickles, Estelle Harris, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Jeff Pidgeon, Blake Clark, Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, Tony Hale and Keanu Reeves. The film opens June 21, 2019.
