The Matrix and John Wick star Keanu Reeves says he would love to make another foray into the world of directing. However, for Reeves to helm another project, he would have to have the same level of passion for it as he did when he decided to direct 2013's Man of Tai Chi.

"You know, I hope so -- I mean, I hope so. I'd love to direct again," Reeves said during an interview with Hyper Omelete at Comic Con Experience 2022. "It's just finding that story, you know? The kung fu movie I made, Man of Tai Chi, I helped develop the script, and I have to find that kind of situation again -- something that comes from this crazy head and this heart that... turns into a story that I have to tell. And I haven't found it yet."

Written by Michael G. Cooney, Man of Tai Chi marked Reeves' directorial debut. Reeves also starred in the film opposite Tiger Chen. Upon its release in 2013, Man of Tai Chi was met with overall positive reviews, with critics praising Reeves' direction and the film's action sequences. Despite this, however, the film bombed at the box office, bringing in $5.5 million against a budget of $25 million.

Could Keanu Reeves Direct BRZRKR?

Reeves' comments at CCXP line up with previous comments he made regarding the upcoming Netflix film BRZRKR, based on the comic book series of the same name Reeves co-created and co-writes with Matt Kindt. "I got [Mattson Tomlin's script for Netflix's BRZRKR film] yesterday or two days ago. I haven't read it yet," Reeves told Collider back in October. At the time, Reeves stated that it was still a bit too "early days" to consider a director, though confessed that he's considered helming the film himself, saying there was a "33 percent" chance he would do it.

"I know how it's a lot of work, but the film that I directed, Man of Tai Chi, was born, I became the director because I was part of the writing process, and I didn't want to hand it over," Reeves told continued. "I was like, 'Oh, okay. I have to direct this.' I'm not quite there yet on BRZRKR. I have to read the script, but I'm also interested in having a collaborator and what they could bring to it."

While Reeves is undecided on the matter, Ron Garney -- the artist behind the BRZRKR comic book -- is fully on board with the idea of the actor helming the upcoming film adaptation. "Get that percentage up, man," Garney said. "I mean, I think it's all you. You should be doing it. Clint Eastwood does it. I mean, you can do it, I think you, it's your thing."
