Keanu Reeves has revealed what superhero his 10-year-old self would have loved to play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Matrix star recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to discuss his new comic book, BRZRKR, which will receive both a live-action film adaptation and a follow-up anime series. When Kimmel brought up Reeves' interest in comic books, the talk show host inquired what Marvel superhero the actor's younger self would have loved to portray. "10-year-old me would want to — I think he'd probably want to be Ghost Rider," Reeves said. Whether Reeves is cast in the MCU, the actor stated he would love to play the protagonist of his BRZRKR comic book on-screen. "To be fair, I'm really right for the role," Reeves joked.

In years past, Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, threw around Reeves' name to potentially play a future character in the MCU. However, the 58-year-old actor remained silent on what roles Marvel has offered him. Instead, Reeves shared his appreciation for Marvel films: "It's really cool. I think the way that the Marvel films have developed and what they are is really spectacular, and it would be great to be a part of that."

Who Will Play Ghost Rider in the MCU?

National Treasure star Nicolas Cage previously played Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider in the 2007 eponymous film and its 2012 sequel, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Cage said he would "really need to see what [Marvel Studios] had in mind before answering" when asked whether the actor would return as Ghost Rider. Arguably, another actor is long overdue to reprise the Marvel Comics character. While the role may be a dream for Reeves, other actors have been fan-cast in the part.

In 2018, fans began speculating that The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus was set to play Ghost Rider. Like Reeves, Reedus responded with "Ghost Rider" when asked what MCU character he would love to play. Even Reedus commented on the probability of the casting rumor. "Fingers crossed," Reedus said. "I don't know. There's been a lot of talk over the last couple years. I do not have an answer for you."

Additionally, The Notebook star Ryan Gosling is among the prospective actors to play the iconic biker. Feige expressed his support of Gosling playing Ghost Rider at San Diego Comic-Con in 2022. "Hey man, if Ryan wants to be Ghost Rider…," Feige said. The rumor surrounding Gosling's casting came after the actor denied his involvement in the MCU as Nova and expressed interest in playing Ghost Rider instead.

BRZRKR will premiere on Netflix but does not yet have a release date.
