Full disclosure: All I know about Katy Perry is that it was impossible to avoid her songs "Firework" and "Roar," and that I always get her confused with Zooey Deschanel. That's it. Still, I can't help but be amused, and a little delighted, to learn the singer had been accused of ripping off classic Archie Comics character Katy Keene for her wardrobe choices, and maybe even her lifestyle.

Not Betty Cooper or Veronica Lodge, but Katy Keene, the model/actress/singer whose comic-book heyday was a good 25 years or more before Perry was born.

While a video documenting the similarities between Perry and Keene is fun enough, what makes the allegations that much better is that they've become widespread enough for Rolling Stone to ask the singer -- Perry, not Keene -- about them in a new interview.

"I saw that a few months ago," Perry tells the magazine, "and the Internet is so crazy. Like, that's crazy! I want to go get an MRI right now and have them look inside me and make sure I'm not a comic! But what freaked me out about it is, we looked into it, and it turned out she has a sister who's a redhead. And my sister is a redhead! And I was like, 'Fuck! Stop it!'"

Hey, whatever it takes to get Katy Keene a little more time in the spotlight. Archie dusted off the character again in 2005, but it looks like the publisher was eight or nine years too early. Maybe it's time to give her another shot.
