The CW has officially revealed the premiere date for Katy Keene, its upcoming Riverdale spinoff.
Katy Keene will debut on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020. The new series will occupy the 8 p.m. timeslot, airing its very first episode just before the mid-season premiere of The CW's Legacies at 9 p.m.
Based on the Archie Comics character of the same name, Katy Keene takes place several years after the events of Riverdale. It follows the titular character -- played by Lucy Hale -- on her journey to make a name for herself in New York's fashion industry. Katy is joined by singer-songwriter and ex-Josie and the Pussycats frontwoman Josie McCoy, aspiring Broadway performer and drag star Jorge/Giner Lopez, and fellow fashionista Pepper Smith.
Other characters include New York socialite Alexandra Cabot, her brother and aspiring record label mogul Alexander Cabot, Katy's longtime boyfriend and welterweight boxer K.O. Kelly, personal shopper Gloria Grandbilt, among several others.
The CW first ordered a pilot for Katy Keene this past January, with the Archie-based show being ordered to series a few months later. The pilot is written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) and Michael Grassi, and directed by Maggie Kiley.
Katy Keene stars Lucy Hale, Ashleigh Murray, Johnny Beauchamp, Julia Chan, Camille Hyde, Lucien Laviscount, Zane Holtz, and Katherine LaNasa. The Riverdale spinoff premieres Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
