The premiere of The CW's Riverdale spinoff series Katy Keene is just around the corner, and the network has released the first extended trailer for the series to celebrate.

Following the Archie Comics character of the same name, the trailer shows Katy's childhood dreams of becoming a fashion designer as she tries to make in New York City with her boyfriend and friends.

The trailer also reveals the arrival of Josie McCoy, with Ashleigh Murray reprising her Riverdale role, as the musician goes solo in the big city. She soon encounters longtime Josie and the Pussycats supporting characters Alexander Cabot and his sister Alexandra.

As the quartet of friends pursue their dreams in the trailer, the upcoming series looks to be a departure from the thriller-tinged Riverdale and instead resembles a coming-of-age story in the Big Apple, in the same vein as Fame and The Devil Wears Prada.

Katy Keene is created by Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina creator and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also serves as an executive producer and co-writer of the pilot with Michael Grassi. Maggie Kiley directed the pilot. The series stars Lucy Hale, Ashleigh Murray, Jonny Beauchamp, Julia Chan, Camille Hyde, Lucien Laviscount, Zane Holtz and Katherine LaNasa. It will debut during mid-season on The CW.
