Kathleen Kennedy will continue to oversee Lucasfilm through at least 2021.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Kennedy has extended her contract at Lucasfilm for another three years. With her new deal, she will continue as president of Lucasfilm through 2021.

The extension of Kennedy's contract is sure to put to rest those rumors that suggested the producer was on her way out following the dismal box office return of Solo: A Star Wars Story. Despite the failed box office performance of that film, and the unfortunate behind the scenes drama that took place during production, Kennedy has helped to push Disney's new Star Wars films past $4.5 billion at the worldwide box office following the Mouse House's $4 billion acquisition of the company from George Lucas back in 2012.

Over her extensive career, Kennedy has served as a producer on films such as E.T., Back to the Future and Jurassic Park, as well as the critically-acclaimed Spielberg dramas Schindler's List and Lincoln. She is set to receive the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Irving G. Thalberg Award on Nov. 18 for her body of work.

While the film side of the Star Wars franchise is expected to see a "slowdown," according to Disney CEO Bob Iger, the franchise is currently looking to branch out on the smaller screen as Kennedy is reportedly looking to expand the universe beyond the films through a new television series.

Casting is reportedly underway for Jon Favreau's untitled live-action series, which will debut on Disney's upcoming streaming service, which will also serve as home to the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Fellow animated series Star Wars Resistance will debut on Disney XD this month.
