According to Katherine McNamara, who played the future version of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow and Felicity Smoak's daughter, Mia, there was one thing set Arrow apart from other shows. The actress said that one thing was Arrow's willingness to endanger its characters.

While speaking to CBR, McNamara and her costars Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy were asked what was Arrow's most shocking moment for them, during which McNamara discussed this aspect of the series.

"That's what I love so much about Arrow in and of itself, though, is that the characters -- even the lead characters -- are always in peril and they always get into new situations where you really do question it," McNamara stated. "Even in 'Crisis [on Infinite Earths],' I think probably the most shocking thing for me was 'Crisis' actually killing Stephen [Amell] in a very final way."

During the events of the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" special, Oliver Queen died twice, his first death occurring when he sacrificed himself while the Anti-Monitor's shadow demons on Earth-38 to give a large number of its inhabitants time to escape. His second death took place in the penultimate chapter of the crossover when he used the powers of the Spectre to battle the Anti-Monitor and gave his life once more to create both a new Earth and multiverse.
