Star Trek: Voyager star Kate Mulgrew announced that she got the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine, and also gave a tip to fans about how they can do likewise.

Mulgrew tweeted, "Got my Covid-19 vaccine in the wee hours of Monday morning! Consider this an order from your Captain - continue to mask up & register to receive your vaccine ASAP. Here in the US, check the website for your individual state of residence (NY for me!) for when you can sign up."

In a second tweet, Mulgrew added, "We will beat this, but only if we all work together. Stay safe, my friends, and trust in science!"

Mulgrew starred as Capt. Kathryn Janeway on Voyager from 1995 to 2001. She replaced Geneviève Bujold, who vacated the role two days into the first week of shooting. Mulgrew thus became the first female lead actor on a Star Trek series, playing the franchise's first female Starfleet captain who was a series regular. Mulgrew will reprise the role in the upcoming Star Trek: Prodigy animated series for Nickelodeon.

Her other credits include Ryan's Hope, the title role in 1979's Mrs. Columbo, the spinoff of the NBC detective series Columbo, and Orange Is the New Black as inmate Galina "Red" Reznikov.
