Kate Beckinsale to Return for Fifth 'Underworld' Film

Kate Beckinsale is back for another round of the "Underworld" franchise, as reported Thursday by The Hollywood Reporter. It'll be the fifth installment of the franchise, and the first since 2012's "Underworld: Awakening," which also starred Beckinsale as the vampire Selene, a role she first originated in 2003's original "Underworld."

Anna Foerster, best known for collaborations with Roland Emmerich on multiple films in a second unit or visual effects capacity, will direct a screenplay by Cory Goodman. The plot is said to "focus on a new and younger generation of vampires and werewolves who are locked in a seemingly never-ending battle between supernatural races." "Divergent" star Theo James is also expected to appear, following a role in "Underworld: Awakening."

Not much else has been publicized about the film at this point, with no official title or release date. Filming is slated to start this October in Prague.
