With Disney set to reacquire many of Marvel's characters from 21st Century Fox, a plethora of new heroes and villains may be coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of them is Deadpool, a character that has already successfully starred in two of his own solo films, with some indication a third film may be in the works following the merger. Given the introduction of new characters, there are plenty of new roles for actors to take on. MCU veteran Karl Urban, who starred as Skurge the Executioner in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, already has an idea of another franchise he could potentially star in.

During an appearance at Dallas Fan Days 2018, the actor was asked if there was a Marvel Comics character he'd like to play. Naturally, Urban responded by saying Skurge, although he joked that he wasn't necessarily sure he could do it. "Skurge'd be a good one to be. I don't know if I could ever do it, but if I could, it'd be that one."

"Listen, I don't know," he continued. "That's a really great question. I don't know, I haven't even thought about the possibility of doing anything else in that world. And I don't know if you even can, once you play something in the Marvel Universe, I don't know if you can come back and be someone else. Can you?" With Skurge in his past, Urban does have his eye on one other potential franchise: Deadpool.

"I'd love to be in a Deadpool movie," he said. "I love Deadpool and I certainly, when I watched the first one I saw that there were similarities, particularly in the opening sequence, that reminded me a lot of, and I think they drew some inspiration from, Dredd, at least cinematographically the way Dredd was shot."

Of course, it remains to be seen what Marvel Studios intends to do with Deadpool once the merger is finally complete, and if Karl Urban is even able to take on a new Marvel character. One thing is for certain, though, Urban's time playing comic book characters is far from over, as he can next be seen in Amazon's The Boys.

Based on the comic series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys is developed for television by Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen. The adaptation stars Karl Urban, Elisabeth Shue, Erin Moriarty, Antony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Nathan Mitchell, Laz Alonso, Jack Quaid, and Karen Fukuhara. It is expected to premiere on Amazon sometime in early 2019.
