How can a villain be truly defeated if he exists within all of time, everywhere and everywhen? Kang the Conqueror is one of the Avengers' most dangerous foes, a time-traveling villain who has hunted them throughout time and space, time and time again.

Over the years Kang has adopted several different persona's and identities, depending on where and when he exists within time.

Kang the Conqueror

Kang the Conqueror's real name is Nathaniel Richards, a scholar of the 31st century. As his last name suggests, he may be a very distant descendant of Reed Richards of the original Fantastic Four. Nathaniel became obsessed with time travel and eventually discovered the time travel technology created by Doctor Doom. Harnessing this technology, Nathaniel propelled himself into the time stream.

Rama-Tut

Traveling back in time to ancient Egypt, Kang took the name of Rama-Tut and became a powerful pharaoh. Kang attempted to claim En Sabah Nur, the mutant who would become the villain Apocalypse, as his heir. When the Fantastic Four were transported back to this very era, they manage to defeat Rama-Tut and drive him out of the timeline. It was here as he attempted to return to his home time of the 31st century that he overshot his destination and came to Earth a thousand years further in the future. Nathaniel found this war-torn Earth weak and easy to conquer. Nathaniel took over this future of Earth and changed his name to Kang the Conqueror.

Scarlet Centurion

The Scarlet Centurion hovers in the air and asks Ms. Marvel if she's okay.

As Kang passed through the 20th century he met Doctor Doom, the arch-nemesis of the Fantastic Four. Impressed by his armor, Kang fashioned a suit of his own and became the Scarlet Centurion. Under this moniker, he forced the Avengers to battle alternate-reality counterparts of themselves. The Avengers were successful in defeating their enemies and forcing Kang back into the time stream.

Immortus

A future version of Kang existed as Immortus, lord of the alternate dimension Limbo. An alien race known as the Time-Keepers, the last living race in the universe at the end of time, mentored this future version Kang and trained him extensively. Wielding this new knowledge and power as Immortus, Kang attempted to defeat the Avengers on several occasions but also helped them fight his past self as well. Immortus' history spans vast swaths of time, making him a sometimes benefactor and sometimes antagonist to the heroes and villains of Earth.

Iron Lad

Iron Lad from the Young Avengers

At one point Kang traveled back to the years of his adolescence in an alternate timeline of Earth and showed himself the future that was to come for him. Kang believed he would inspire his younger self to attain the title of Kang the Conqueror but instead, the young boy was horrified at seeing what he was to become. Donning the time-traveling technology Kang gave him, the younger Kang travels further into the past in search of the Avengers. Finding them disbanded, the young Kang models his armor after Iron Man and calls himself Iron Lad, moving on to form the Young Avengers.

Kang is the ultimate supervillain. He possesses technology and knowledge superior to our own; he is ruthless to a fault, even battling himself in the pursuit of power. Kang has become an enemy not just to the heroes of Earth, but to himself as well. To defeat one version of him is a small victory as there are countless other incarnations of him peppered throughout time and space. But for all the personas and variations of the one man, there exists one simple truth: at the core of it all exists Kang the Conqueror, villain to all.
