Kakashi Hatake is one of the most important characters in Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto series. In the Boruto era, Kakashi certainly isn't nearly as important as he was in Naruto, however, he's still involved in the story every now and then, especially in the Boruto anime.

After the Fourth Great Ninja War, the ninja world was at peace for quite a while and as expected, things started to change, and Kakashi got accustomed to the new life as well. Without a doubt, his character has undergone some major changes ever since Naruto and Sasuke ended the war.

10 Changed: Kakashi Is Not Stronger Than All Of His Students Anymore

Kakashi looks worried and ponders

Kakashi Hatake is certainly one of the strongest ninja to ever live. In the Naruto series, he was an example for Team 7 to follow and he possessed much greater strength than them for the majority of the story.

Even towards the end of the story, Kakashi got a major power-up, thanks to Obito, and played a part in Kaguya Otsutsuki's fall. After losing his Sharingan, however, he is no longer stronger than his students.

Kakashi Hatake was renowned as the Copy Ninja because of his ability to use the Sharingan extremely well. Even Itachi Uchiha, a skilled user of the eye, complemented Kakashi for his clever usage of the Sharingan.

Although he no longer has this eye, Kakashi still has access to all the jutsu that he copied over the years. His level of skill certainly hasn't dropped that much and he remains a great threat.

The Fourth Great Ninja War saw a lot of changes come to Kakashi Hatake's character and losing his Sharingan was one of them. In the climax of the war, Madara Uchiha stole his eye and Naruto Uzumaki healed his original eye with his Yin-Yang Release.

Kakashi did get a Sharingan power-up against Kaguya Otsutsuki, but it was only temporary. Evidently, Kakashi no longer has access to the Sharingan in Boruto and this has changed his powers and his way of fighting quite a lot.

It goes without saying that Kakashi was one of the smartest characters in the Naruto series. In fact, his intelligence was said to be far greater than that of Shikamaru, which is quite a statement.

Kakashi's powers may have weakened a bit, but his mind is sharp as ever. Even against the toughest of enemies, Kakashi doesn't falter and comes up with the most clever strategies. That aspect of his character remains the same today.

6 Changed: Kakashi Is No Longer The Current Hokage

Kakashi as Hokage in Naruto.

Towards the end of Naruto, Kakashi rose to the position of Hokage as Naruto wasn't deemed to be ready for the position. Donning the cape of the Sixth Hokage, Kakashi led the village for quite a while after the end of the story.

In Boruto, however, Naruto is already the Seventh Hokage, meaning Kakashi stepped down at some point. Kakashi does retain his title of Hokage, just as every other Kage does, however, he isn't the current Hokage anymore.

5 Same: Kakashi Is Still Known By Everyone Across The World

Kakashi Hatake becomes the Sixth Hokage in Naruto.

Kakashi is one of the most well-known shinobi in the ninja world. He made himself known in Konoha before the age of 10 and later, in the Third Great Ninja War, he earned respect from everyone across the ninja world.

Years later, the respect that people have for Kakashi has only increased and he's one of the most well-respected ninja out there. Even Naruto, Konohagakure's Seventh Hokage, respects Kakashi a lot and still looks up to him.

4 Changed: Kakashi Has Learned New Jutsu

After losing his Sharingan, Kakashi could no longer use his trademark technique, known as Raikiri. The jutsu was too fast and left the user open to counterattacks, which is why having the Sharingan was key to performing it successfully.

Without the Sharingan, Kakashi had to find an alternative and he came up with a jutsu that was equally powerful yet better in usability. After the war, Kakashi Hatake invented a new jutsu called Shiden.

Kakashi Hatake has access to every single nature transformation, however, his specialty is the Lightning Release. Although his go-to technique, the Raikiri, is unusable to him now, Shiden certainly isn't.

By concentrating his lightning chakra into his palm, Kakashi can use Shiden from a distance and easily strike his enemies in a single blow. His skill with Lightning Release is just as impressive as ever.

2 Changed: Kakashi Can Last Longer In Fights Now

Kakashi was heavily reliant on the Mangekyo Sharingan back in Naruto and while the power certainly was incredibly useful, it took quite a toll on his chakra reserves. After losing his Sharingan, Kakashi can last much longer in fights simply because he doesn't possess the Uchiha eye now.

Over the years, he's trained himself to fight without the Sharingan and is arguably just as good as he was during the Naruto days.

Sasuke Returns To Team 7

Kakashi's students have done quite well over the years. While Naruto Uzumaki is the Seventh Hokage, Sakura Haruno leads Konoha's medical unit, and Sasuke Uchiha is the other Hokage of the village. They've certainly outgrown Kakashi Hatake himself, however, to him, they're still the same students he swore to protect with his life.

Even today, Kakashi wouldn't hesitate to lay his life down for any of them, as is expected of a teacher as great as the Copy Ninja of Konohagakure.
