Kaitlyn Dever was finally asked about the rumors that she's up for the role of Batgirl in the DCEU, and the actor is certainly intrigued. While on the red carpet for the Oscars, Variety asked the Booksmart star about whether she'll be suiting up anytime soon. "I'm not gonna deny anything because I would be down," Dever responded when asked about "Batman rumors."RELATED: Birds of Prey Movie Writer Talks Harley Quinn & Batgirl

Dever went on to confirm that while she is interested in taking the role, she hasn't had any talks with anyone at Warner Bros. or DC. The young actor then offered her assessment of Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight, saying she thinks he's an incredible actor and will make a great Batman.

Nothing concrete has ever emerged about Dever playing Batgirl, meaning the "rumors" are likely nothing more than fan-casting run amok. Still, the response online to the actor potentially donning her own cape and cowl has been positive. Then again, Karen Gillan is also eager to make a Batgirl movie.

For the time being, it's not clear how far along a solo Batgirl movie is. But with The Batman rebooting the Dark Knight and live-action DC fare as we know it fracturing into many multiversal parts, it's likely Batgirl could be introduced in a Batman film first. Either that or a Birds of Prey sequel.

Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) stars Margot Robbie, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rosie Perez, Ewan McGregor, Ella Jay Basco, Steven Williams, Derek Wilson, Dana Lee, Francois Chau, Charlene Amoia, Chris Messina and Matthew Willig. The film is in theaters now.
