WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Season 2, Episode 4 of Kaguya-sama: Love is War, now streaming on FUNimation.

In the fourth episode of Kaguya-Sama: Love is War's second season, Miyuki Shirogane's presidential campaign puts him on everyone's radar, but he's hardly gloating.

How It's Really Done

In the last episode, Miyuki declared his intentions to run for school president once again, and in a moment of desperation, Kaguya pleaded with him to run for president... only to see his filled-out paperwork. She lost that battle, and now, she misses Miyuki after a few days at home. Her maid, Ai, suggests that Kaguya just go and meet him, but being her usual stubborn self, Kaguya would much rather not do it. She also complains about how difficult it is to get boys to make the first move, or seduce them.

Ai takes that as a challenge, and Kaguya openly defies Ai to actually do the deed (in a G-rated manner). Ai is feeling pretty confident, and she promises to get it done. Sure enough, at a bookstore the next day, Ai meets Miyuki in the checkout line, with her hair done differently and wearing a different school's uniform. Kaguya, who is watching nearby in disguise, is dazzled by Ai's smooth and smart flirting skills, and she's actually hoping that Ai will back off.

Later into the conversation (and after a long, faked nap), Ai tries to get Miyuki to ask her out, and this is where Miyuki puts his foot down. He declares that there's another girl (Kaguya) whom his heart belongs to and leaves. Ai feels pretty embarrassed later on as she's sure that in a month's time, she could really deliver the results. But it's too late now.

Wanted: One Speechwriter

Meanwhile, Miyuki has his hands full, and he's going to need a speechwriter for his campaign. At first, Chika is eager to take the job, but at the last minute, Miyuki decides that it should only be Kaguya, and he goes off to find her. In front of their classmates, he asks her to see him after school, and this gets all the girls (and some boys) talking like crazy. It's even the hot-button topic of the school's Live conversations and the student news network, too.

With all this attention on him, Miyuki meets Kaguya after school as promised, and whole crowds are watching, expecting a love confession or a date. Miyuki hesitates, knowing that he's in what looks like a lose-lose situation. Either he satisfies the crowds and loses the love war with Kaguya, or he just asks about the speechwriter job and looks bad in the process. So, he leans in close to ask this quietly, and Kaguya happily tells him that whether he's asking about speechwriting jobs or anything else, her answer is a fond "yes."

Miyuki has more challenges than that, though. He's leading in the polls, but the runner-up is a younger student named Miko Iino, who has some pretty strict ideas about how to run the school as president. She idolizes Chika (since Chika once won a piano competition), and Miyuki and Ishigami tease her for it. Chika is tempted to join Miko's team, but eventually, she changes her mind, since there's just no way she can abandon her friends. And as Miyuki puts it, Miko's ultra-conservative, boring ideas won't get her anywhere in the polls, so he has nothing to worry about after all.

Miyuki's life just got busy again but he's on top of his game like usual, and most likely, things will get back to normal soon enough.
