Fast and the Furious' Justin Lin Inks Exclusive TV Deal with Apple

Fan-favorite filmmaker Justin Lin has gone Apple TV exclusive for upcoming television projects after signing a development deal for the upcoming streaming service.

Lin's production company, Perfect Storm Entertainment, has agreed to an exclusive deal with Apple after working for the past six years with Sony Pictures Television. Previous television series produced by Perfect Storm including CBS' Scorpion, S.W.A.T., and the current Magnum, P.I. reboot as well as the upcoming Cinemax series Warrior.

Lin, who also directed 2016's Star Trek Beyond, played a significant role in revitalizing The Fast and the Furious franchise into a more action-oriented film series. The filmmaker is currently working on pre-production for the ninth main installment of the series after helming The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Fast & Furious, Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6.

Perfect Storm Entertainment's exclusive deal came after Apple won a competitive bid following the company's contract with Sony expiring, though no announced projects for the company have been announced as in development. Similarly, there are little announced details on Apple's upcoming streaming service including when the platform is expected to launch.
