'Justified' Promotes Jere Burns to Series Regular

The new season of Justified hasn't started airing yet, and already we know it's full of Wynn.

Deadline reports that Jere Burns, who plays the stops-just-short-of-mustache-twirling criminal Wynn Duffy on the FX drama, has been promoted to series regular for the upcoming fifth season of Justified.

The promotion comes after Burns spent four seasons as a guest star, easily one of the most memorable on the show. Above all else, Wynn is a survivor, a man who always zigs left to avoid zagging right into certain doom. But the character is also best used sparingly; absence makes the heart grow fonder in the case of Mr. Duffy. It'll be interesting to see how his increased presence affects the show in its fifth year.

Duffy isn't the only antagonist on U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens' path this year, however. TV Line reports that a new family of criminals will be introduced in Season 5: "the white trash Florida-based Crowe clan, led by the sexy, charismatic and ruthless fortysomething patriarch Dale." The Crowes run a gator farm, but they also secretly "deal drugs and murder people and stuff." Any chance that the Crowes are related to the amazing four-kidneyed Dewey Crowe? Smart money says yes, but when have "smart" and "Dewey Crowe" ever been used in the same sentence?
