Director Zack Snyder is reportedly pushing Warner Bros. to release his cut of Justice League in theaters in 2021.

According to Entertainment Weekly, a decision on releasing Zack Snyder's Justice League in theaters has not been made by Warner Bros. "I'm a huge fan and a big supporter of the cinematic experience, and we're already talking about Justice League playing theatrically at the same time it's coming to HBO Max," Snyder said. "So weirdly, it's the reverse [of the trend]."

As of now, there is no firm release date for the director's cut of Justice League on HBO Max. However, WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar recently let fans know when they can expect to see the much-anticipated film arrive on the streaming service "in a few months."

"And on the subject of HBO Max, there are so many amazing HBO original series and Max originals I’m excited about," Kilar said. "The Tiger Woods HBO documentary arriving in January is incredible. And this little thing called Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in a few months as well."

WarnerMedia announced that its entire slate of 2021 films will stream on HBO Max simultaneously with their theatrical releases. The full HBO Max 2021 movie lineup includes The Little Things, Judas and the Black Messiah, Tom & Jerry, Godzilla vs. Kong, Mortal Kombat, Those Who Wish Me Dead, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, In The Heights, Space Jam: A New Legacy, The Suicide Squad, Reminiscence, Malignant, Dune, The Many Saints of Newark, King Richard, Cry Macho and Matrix 4.

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. Zack Snyder's Justice League will premiere exclusively on HBO Max in 2021.
