Justice League director Zack Snyder shared a new image of the film's villain Steppenwolf, who will debut a new, spiky look in Zack Snyder's Justice League.

Snyder shared the image on Vero in honor of the new trailer for the film — which will be split into four episodes. The black-and-white teaser does not have much new footage and is mostly a replication of the movie's first promo.

The Snyder Cut recently completed a week of reshoots that brought back Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck, Ray Fisher and Joe Manganiello. The film will also feature Jared Leto's Joker, who did not appear in the theatrical version of the movie. Henry Cavill, however, did not shoot any news scenes.

The announcement of the Snyder Cut ended the two-and-a-half-year movement that pushed for its release. It began when the film first premiered in theaters following reports that Snyder's version of the movie had been heavily altered by Warner Bros. and new director Joss Whedon after Snyder had to step down due to a family tragedy. Many blame those two parties for the film's subpar critical reception and argue that Snyder's product is far superior and fits more coherently with his previous two films in the DCEU canon: Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. Zack Snyder's Justice League will premiere exclusively on HBO Max in 2021.
