Zack Snyder's cut of Justice League almost featured the Green Lantern Corps, with Ryan Reynolds cameoing in a familiar but different role.

The director of the upcoming HBO Max epic spoke to THR about all the ideas that he had along the way, from the ones that worked out, like Joker and Batman sharing a scene, to the ones that didn't ever happen. One of those abandoned ideas included bringing in Reynolds to once again play a Green Lantern -- just not Hal Jordan.

"There was another idea I had for the Green Lantern that wasn't Ryan, and so I thought that if we had gone down this path of Green Lantern, I would have had to have Ryan as the additional Lantern," Snyder said. "Filling out the Lantern Corps a little bit more than say just one Green Lantern"

When Justice League was originally planned, many assumed the rumored seventh member of the team would be a member of the Green Lantern Corps. Ultimately, that didn't come to pass, but fans have continued to hope. Recently, a major cameo was teased and Green Lantern began trending on Twitter. In the end, the tease turned out to be about Martian Manhunter, a character most people knew would be debuting in Snyder's cut. But with a Green Lantern series coming to HBO Max, the chances of seeing the group on the big screen again seems likely, even after Reynold's turn as the main hero bombed in 2011.

Though Reynolds won't be appearing as a member of the Green Lantern Corps in the film, the movie is still an unlikely achievement, and producer Deborah Snyder is eager to see it finally released. "I'm excited for the world to see it," she said. "Who thought anyone was going to get to see this version of the film?"
