Brand new footage from Zack Snyder's Justice League has given fans a taste of the DC Extended Universe's Darkseid.Snyder shared footage that features Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman coming across a tapestry. A menacing voiceover from Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor then warns, "The bell's already been rung, and they've heard it. But in the dark, among the stars, ding dong, the god is dead." Finally, Diana Prince is seen holding up a torch to a close-up of Darkseid.

Although Darkseid was mentioned in Snyder and Joss Whedon's Justice League, Ray Porter's role as the Dark God Lord of Apokolips was left on the cutting room floor.

Darkseid was supposed to feature in Snyder's plans for the DCEU and have an expanded role in his proposed trilogy of Justice League movies. However, fans are sure to learn more about Snyder's version of the character at DC FanDome in August.

Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. Zack Snyder's Justice League will premiere exclusively on HBO Max in 2021.
