WARNING: The following article contains spoilers from Justice League #65, on sale now from DC Comics.

For the past several months, the Wonder Twins have been helping the Justice League out by acting as interns at the team's headquarters, the Hall of Justice. While they might seem ineffective or dangerously naive, Jayna of the Wonder Twins just demonstrated a new caveat to her shapeshifting abilities in Brian Michael Bendis, Steve Pugh, Romulo Fajardo Jr., and Josh Reed's Justice League #65.

During the League's battle with Synmar, Jayna revealed that her ability to transform into animals also lets her transform into specific animals, thanks to her training with Batman. In this instance, she transformed into Gorilla Grodd to lend a hand in stopping the alien menace. But her new transformation poses an interesting question: If she can transform into an animal like Grodd, who is in every conceivable way an intelligent being, then it raises the question of what precisely the limits of her ability to change into animals are.

At first glance, this doesn't seem to be a huge deal in comparison to major players like Superman or Wonder Woman, but it could mean that Jayna is a potential powerhouse. If she can transform into specific animals and take on their traits, then there is conceivably no limit to which powered creature she could imitate. Theoretically, she could become an animal like Superman's dog Krypto and potentially take on all the Kryptonian powers that come with the animal.

There could possibly be even more to this startling new development. Grodd isn't an unintelligent beast, but he somehow falls under the category of an animal for Jayna. This may indicate that she could transform into other intelligent animals within the DC universe, such as Captain Carrot or even Man-Bat, which could give her their abilities. The possibilities are practically endless in consideration of just how many DC characters have animalistic traits.

And then there is the idea of what even constitutes an animal, and if the power is limited to Jayna's perspective. By transforming into Grodd, Jayna has transformed into an intelligent being, and in the most technical terms, humans are animals as well. This begs the question of whether or not Jayna has the potential to transform into superpowered humans, once again adapting their powers and skills.

Then there's the biological divide to consider. Jayna has transformed into creatures she shares no common DNA with, meaning that she could potentially transform into animals from other planets entirely if she knew about them.

There's a lot of questions surrounding Jayna's powers at the moment, but these changes all bump Jaynaup from one of the Justice League's sillier members to one of its most potentially powerful.
