Zack Snyder has revealed that two Green Lanterns almost appeared at the end of his cut of Justice League.

Speaking at Justice Con 2021, Snyder said he wanted fan-favorite Lanterns John Stewart and Kilowog at the end of the film. "Originally, we were going to have John Stewart and Kilowog come to the dock to see Bruce [Wayne]," Snyder said. "That was the original, original idea."

Snyder has long said he wanted a Green Lantern in the movie, with the director eventually revealing that John Stewart, made popular on the animated shows Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, was his chosen Lantern. He also told the Justice Con attendees that relative newcomer Wayne T. Carr was meant to play Stewart in the film before he was swapped out for Martian Manhunter.

"I said, 'Look, there's a chance that this doesn't make it in the movie," Snyder said. "I'm not 100% sure he thought it was real, legit." There was even a suit made for him. "We had made him a CG suit and because it was COVID and we couldn't really do a real suit... The mandate was to make it look as physical as possible."

At one point in the making of Justice League, Snyder threatened to quit if Green Lantern wasn't able to appear in the film. In the end, he decided to continue with the film despite Warner Bros. allegedly not wanting one of the main Green Lanterns to appear in the movie. An obscure Lantern does appear in the film's flashback sequence, however, and a dead Lantern, who looks like Kilowog, is seen during the Knightmare sequence.

For fans of the Green Lanterns, a number of them are set to appear on the upcoming HBO Max series that will follow the Lantern Corps, including original Green Lantern Alan Scott. Reports have also claimed that both Stewart and Kilowog will be in the series, which could be why Snyder wasn't able to use them.

Streaming now on HBO Max, Zack Snyder's Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ray Porter as Darkseid, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.
