Warner Bros. dropped a brand-new Justice League trailer at its Hall H panel for Comic-Con International in San Diego. In addition to revealing tons of new footage, it offers our first live-action look at the villainous Steppenwolf and hints at the presence of Green Lanterns in the DC Extended Universe. We also see new glimpses of Commissioner Gordon, trips to Themyscira and Atlantis and a (big) hint of the return of Superman.

In the comics, Steppenwolf first appeared in New Gods #7, by comics legend Jack Kirby. He has a solid villainous resume as the general of the army on Apokolips, plus one-ups Superman, as he actually survived a battle with Doomsday. The character recently appeared in the “Darkseid War” arc of Justice League by Geoff Johns and Jason Fabok.
