While 2017's Justice League featured a toned-down version of the villain Steppenwolf, the character's original design will be featured in Zack Snyder's Justice League. Now, concept artist Jerad S. Marantz has offered a new look at Steppenwolf without his armor.

"This is the actual model that I turned over to production back in the days of Justice League,"  Marantz wrote. Unlike the villain's appearance in the Justice League theatrical cut, this version of Steppenwolf features larger muscles and sharper edges.

"Went on a bit of a journey with the character's horns," Marantz continued. "Originally I had done a hammerhead option." He added that he's quite fond of the horns and how they help his design resemble the New 52 version of Steppenwolf.

Zack Snyder's Justice League will feature not only Steppenwolf but Darkseid, DeSaad and Granny Goodness, all of whom were absent from the theatrical cut.

In Zack Snyder's Justice League, determined to ensure Superman’s ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne aligns forces with Diana Prince with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.

Zack Snyder's Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ray Porter as Darkseid, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K.
