Actor Ray Fisher, who plays Cyborg in the DC Extended Universe, has asked why some fans take issue with his character not saying his catchphrase, "Booyah," in Zack Snyder's cut of Justice League."Serious reflective question for folks that take issue with Cyborg not saying “booyah†in Zack Snyder’s Justice League," Fisher asked on Twitter. "Are you just as upset that none of the other characters are using catchphrases? (i.e. “Great Hera!â€, “This looks like a job for...â€, etc.) If not, why is that?"
In July 2020, Fisher alleged that director Joss Whedon had engaged in "gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable" behavior during the Justice League reshoots, saying he was "enabled, in many ways, by [producers] Geoff Johns and Jon Berg." In his response, Berg said Fisher's claims were "categorically untrue," before adding, "I remember [Fisher] being upset that we wanted him to say ‘Booyaa,’ which is a well known saying of Cyborg in the animated series."
Warner Bros. later launched an official investigation based on Fisher's allegations, which was followed by a third-party investigation at Fisher's request. In December 2020, WarnerMedia announced it had completed its investigation and taken "remedial action" based on its findings, but without specifying what those actions were. While Fisher has since expressed his continued dissatisfaction and refuses to take part in any Warner Bros. projects overseen by DC Films President Walter Hamada, he also intends to promote the Snyder Cut, saying, "There's no way you can stop me from doing press for Zack Snyder's Justice League."
