While some fans are disappointed that Darkseid didn't make an appearance in the Justice League film, one of the movie's actors has revealed he shot a cut fight scene featuring the ruler of Apokolips.

Nick McKinless was set to play Ares in Justice League. The actor revealed the news on Instagram, in a post that was later shared on Reddit. "I played Ares in Justice League (not the previous actor). I was NOT credited for my work. We shot a whole fight sequence with Darkseid. I trained for 4 months to get in that shape." He went on to compliment Zack Snyder, saying "Zack was amazing to work with." McKinless didn't give many more details about the fight sequence with Darkseid.

David Thewlis played a version of Ares in Wonder Woman. However, McKinless was seemingly set to play a much younger incarnation of the character.

Joss Whedon was hired to finish the film after Snyder's departure. Many details have come out about Snyder's original vision for Justice League, including scenes featuring a young Darkseid fighting Greek gods and the murder of Lois Lane. His plan involved a five-movie arc for the DCEU, though it's unclear what of that plan remains going forward.
