The following contains spoilers for Nubia & the Justice League Special #1, on sale now from DC Comics.

The Justice League now has two Wonder Women among its ranks.

Written by Michael W. Conrad and Beckly Cloonan with art by Amancay Nahuelpan, Nubia & the Justice League Special #1 sees the Queen of the Amazons, Nubia, venture out into Man's World to help the Justice League's heroes and visit Wonder Woman, aka Diana Prince. By the end of the issue's main story, "New Salvation," the League gets an alert about an incident involving Flash villain Weather Wizard, prompting Green Arrow to ask Nubia if she wants to be a part of the Justice League. Wonder Woman tells Nubia, "Don't leave us in suspense," and Nubia responds, "Oh, I think Green Arrow already know my answer," electing to charge into battle along with the entire League.

Beforehand in the special issue, Nubia teams up with various members of the League as the team's roster appears during Brian Michael Bendis' Justice League run, the latest iteration of the title that ended with the release of Justice League #75 in April 2022. Alongside Green Arrow and Black Canary, she takes down Batman villain Firefly, and later defeats Parasite with Black Adam and Martian Manhunter. The issue takes place at the same time as Wonder Woman #793, so while Nubia is off with the League, Diana is on the Watchtower with Batman and Superman.

What to Read to Experience Nubia's Journey From Infinite Frontier Onward

Nubia took over as the Queen of the Amazons after Hippolyta -- Diana's mother -- abdicated the throne in Infinite Frontier #0. The temporary loss of Diana (who disappeared from the main DC Universe for some time after Dark Nights: Death Metal) made Hippolyta want to explore Man's World, causing her to serve in Diana's place on the League. Nubia's journey as the Amazons' Queen is explored throughout the series Nubia and the Amazons, the Trial of the Amazons crossover event, the one-shot Nubia: Coronation Special #1 and the series Nubia: Queen of the Amazons.

Nubia: Queen of the Amazons is a four-issue miniseries that released its final issue in Sep. 2022. Nubia & the Justice League Special is the first Nubia-centric title to release since then, but no future books dedicated for the character have been announced as of writing. A new wave of titles will release in 2023 as a part of the "Dawn of DC" initiative, but while involving new series for Superman, Batman, Green Lantern and other heroes, no new Wonder Woman-related series have been revealed for Dawn of DC yet.

Along with Conrad, Cloonan and Nahuelpan, "New Salvation" is colored by Tamra Bonvillain and lettered by Pat Brosseau. Nubia & the Justice League #1 also features a backup story -- "I Am Nubia" -- written by Stephanie Phillips, illustrated by Alitha Martinez, inked by Mark Morales, colored by Alex Guimarães and lettered by Becca Carey. The issue's main cover art is done by Travis Moore and Alejandro Sánchez Rodrguez, with variant covers made by Mateus Manhanini and Joshua Swaby. The issue is now on sale from DC Comics.
