Fans were divided by the darker depictions of Superman in director Zack Snyder's Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but actor Henry Cavill assures the upcoming Justice League will capture the essence of the iconic hero.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Cavill discussed how his character has evolved in his third outing in the DC Extended Universe. "Geoff [Johns] and I have been delving into the history of the character to get to the core of who Superman is," he revealed. "This is the first time we see the true Superman. The Superman who is confident, and sure, and full of hope and joy."

It sounds as if the filmmakers have listened to fans, enlisting the help of DC Entertainment President & Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns to steer Superman in a more comics-accurate direction. With the ensemble film premiering in just a few days, fans won't have to wait long to see this take on the Man of Steel.
