The Justice League is one of the most popular and widely recognized superhero teams in pop culture. Since its initial appearance, there have been several different versions of the Justice League across different media. In addition to the original Justice Society of America, there are also versions like Justice League International.
As a superhero team that is sanctioned by the United Nations, it features some of the most popular and most powerful DC heroes amongst their ranks. In this list, we feature 10 of the most powerful members of Justice League International ranked according to their overall powers, abilities, and skill.
Tora Olafsdotter is from a tribe in Norway who possesses the mystical power to control ice and snow. Before she became a member of the Justice League, she was a member of the Global Guardians. When the Guardians were shut down, she joined Justice League International under the alias of Ice. As a cryokinetic, she can emit waves of ice and snow to subdue her opponents or create platforms of ice to travel long distances. Her powers later evolve, becoming more destructive, and even gains the ability to fly. When pushed to her limit, she can manipulate the weather around her to create powerful blizzards.
Much like her friend Ice, Beatriz da Costa's pyrokinetic abilities were originally based in mysticism. Following the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths, the origin of her powers was changed. Instead of mysticism, her powers are a result of surviving a pyroplasmic explosion. Originally, she could only breathe out jets of green fire. After being exposed to a metagene bomb, her abilities became even stronger. Similarly to Marvel's Human Torch, she can envelop her body in green flames. She also has the power to fly, unleash powerful blasts of green fire, as well as phase through solid objects. With her powers, she is figuratively, and literally, one of the hottest heroes in the Justice League.
In the New 52, Vixen is one of the founding members of Justice League International. Thanks to the power of her mystical Tantu Totem, she possesses a deep connection with the Red, the source of all animal life in the universe.
By accessing the powers of the animal kingdom, either individually or simultaneously, she can fly, enhance her physical abilities to superhuman levels, as well as regenerate. While under the influence of the totem's creator Anansi, she can also replicate the powers of other superhumans. In Vixen: Return of the Lion mini-series, she does not need the totem to use her powers.
7 Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes)
After an alien scarab fused itself to his spine, Jaime Reyes became the third incarnation of the Blue Beetle. When activated, the scarab envelops his body in an incredibly powerful armor. In addition to its defensive abilities, the scarab can also instantaneously modify its structure, allowing him to access an arsenal of weapons. In addition to swords, energy cannons, and bulletproof wings, he can also increase his overall body size and strength. The scarab can even develop countermeasures to use against specific opponents. This includes even the Spectre, one of the most powerful beings in the universe. While he may lack experience, he is by far the strongest of the Blue Beetle so far.
6 Guy Gardener
Guy Gardner may be cocky and a major pain to deal with, but he is also one of the strongest heroes in the cosmos. Even among his fellow Green Lanterns, he possesses overwhelming will power. In fact, his will is so strong that he was able to resist the fear-inducing influence of Sinestro's Fear Engine.
A device that was used to induce fear in strong individuals to power the rings of the Sinestro Corps'. He is also powerful enough to take on Atrocitus, the leader of the Red Lantern Corps. After he switches sides to become a Red Lantern, he eventually becomes its new leader.
5 Dr. Fate
Kent Nelson, also known as Dr. Fate, is one of the founding members of Justice League International, as well as one of the strongest sorcerers in the DC universe. While most of his powers come from the Helmet of Fate, he is still an accomplished sorcerer in his own right. He naturally possesses super strength, super speed, telekinesis, telepathy, as well as a vast knowledge of magic. When he puts on the Helmet of Fate, Nabu takes control of his body, greatly enhancing his physical and magical abilities. He becomes virtually invulnerable and is powerful enough to manipulate the fabric of time and space.
4 Martian Manhunter
As one of the original members of the Justice League, Martian Manhunter, or J’onn J’onzz, is extremely powerful. He possesses a variety of superpowers such as telepathy, telekinesis, shapeshifting, intangibility, invisibility, super strength, as well as the ability to fly. His only major weakness is that he is vulnerable to fire.
However, it turns out that this weakness was psychically implanted into the Martian race by the Guardians of the Universe to prevent the Martians from becoming too powerful and potentially destroy the universe. After he overcomes this weakness, his personality is consumed by a more malicious persona known as Fernus. In this state, he is powerful enough to take on the entire Justice League.
By yelling out SHAZAM – which stands for Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, and Mercury – Billy Batson transforms from a child, into the hero Shazam (formerly Captain Marvel). Thanks to the magical nature of his abilities, he possesses super strength, super speed, immortality, invulnerability, the power to fly, and manipulate lightning, limitless stamina, as well as high resistance to magic. Furthermore, when in the presence of people he has a close connection with, he can transfer his powers to them. This allows them to transform into super-powered versions of themselves. When he is not holding back his true strength, he can even move entire planets.
2 Captain Atom
As a result of an experiment that bonded him with the alloy taken from the alien known as the Silver Shield, he became the all-powerful Captain Atom. One of the Justice League's major powerhouses, he can tap into the Quantum Field, the essence of all energy and matter in the cosmos. His strength is second only to Superman's and can absorb and emit virtually all forms of energy.
Over the years, his powers have continued to evolve and grow. He is able to temporarily travel forward through time, interact with computer networks, as well as transmute and manipulate matter. He has even replicated an entire universe and just as easily destroyed it.
1 Mr. Miracle
As a member of the New Gods, Mr. Miracle, or Scott Free, possesses god-like physical abilities. He is also considered the universe’s greatest escape artist due to having successfully escaped from Apocalypse. In addition to his powers as a New God, he also possesses the Alpha Effect, which is the antithesis of Darkseid’s Omega Effect. It allows him to absorb and generate all forms of energy, resurrect his fellow New Gods, as well as travel through time and space. He also possesses the knowledge and power to use the Anti-Life Equation. If he wanted to, he could easily dominate the will of every sentient race and rule the entire cosmos.
