Henry Cavill, who portrays Superman in the DC Extended Universe, will not partake in the additional reshoots for Zack Snyder's Justice League.

"Not shooting anything additional. No. It's all stuff that has been already done," Cavill told Collider . "Obviously I don't know how things are going to evolve and change and adapt depending on now a different length of movie and whatever may happen in post-production. Whatever lessons may be learned from what is it four years since Justice League came out? Four years' worth of fan reaction. For me…I'm now just watching the party."

HBO Max originally had no plans for reshoots — opting instead to rely on unused footage — despite the fact that director Zack Snyder wanted to film additional scenes. However, the streamer announced yesterday that production on new material is set to begin in October and will last about a week. A number of the original cast members will step back behind the camera for the new scenes, including Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ben Affleck as Batman and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. The project was originally estimated to cost $30 million. However, new projections put it closer to $70 million.

While not announced as part of the reshoot cast, J.K. Simmons, who portrays Commissioner Gordon, expressed interest in doing additional work on the film back in July. "If there's additional dialogue recording or additional shooting or whatever, I'd be happy to do it," he said at the time.

The announcement of the Snyder Cut ended the two-and-a-half-year movement that pushed for its release. It began when the film first premiered in theaters following reports that Snyder's version of the movie had been heavily altered by Warner Bros. and new director Joss Whedon after Snyder had to step down due to a family tragedy. Many blame those two parties for the film's subpar critical reception and argue that Snyder's product is far superior and fits more coherently with his previous two films in the DCEU canon: Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. Zack Snyder's Justice League will premiere exclusively on HBO Max in early to mid-2021.
