HBO Max has disputed reports that Zack Snyder's Justice League is set to premiere on the streaming platform in September 2021.

"Rumor going around that #TheSnyderCut is premiering in September of 2021," tweeted Collider Editor-in-chief Steven Weintraub. "I reached out to @hbomax and they say it's not true."

Rumors the Snyder Cut would premiere on HBO Max in September of next year started after the director debuted the film's first trailer during the virtual DC FanDome event on Aug. 22. While Snyder didn't give an exact date for the film's release, a leaked title page that was briefly posted on a DC Press Portal website displayed the date Sept. 5, 2021. Both Warner Bros. and HBO Max have since denied that a specific date has been decided on.

The update comes just days after Snyder admitted that he thought executives at Warner Bros. were joking when they told him to cut his version of Justice League down to just two hours. "In what world is that a two-hour movie?" Snyder said on a recent episode of the Reel in Motion podcast. "I mean, Batman v Superman is a full three hours, and that’s two characters."

Like the theatrical release, the Snyder Cut of Justice League follows the superhero squad as they attempt to save the world from the threat of Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons. It will initially be released as a four-part miniseries -- with each episode clocking in at an hour -- and re-released as a four-hour film at a later date.
