Gal Gadot has, for the first time, confirmed earlier reports that Joss Whedon threatened her career during a conflict that the two had during the troubled reshoots of the Justice League film after Whedon stepped in to take over for Zack Snyder, following Snyder's depature from the project due to the passing of his daughter.
In an interview with the Israeli outlet N12, Gal Gadot noted, "He kind of threatened my career and said if I did something, he would make my career miserable and I just took care of it on the spot."
Reports of Gadot's displeasure with Whedon surfaced after Cyborg actor Ray Fisher went public with how he felt that he was mistreated by Whedon and Warner Brothers in general during the reshoots of the film. Gadot had backed up Fisher's complaints, but she had been vague about the details, telling the Los Angeles Times only, "I'm happy for Ray to go out and speak his truth. I wasn't there with the guys when they shot with Joss Whedon – I had my own experience with [him], which wasn't the best one, but I took care of it there and when it happened. I took it to the higher-ups and they took care of it. But I'm happy for Ray to go up and say his truth."
The Hollywood Reporter had further details of Whedon and Gadot's alleged confrontation during the reshoots, which apparently first started when Gadot felt that Wonder Woman was acting too aggressive in the reshoots and she was worried about the character not being consistent with the Wonder Woman films. The Reporter followed with, "The biggest clash, sources say, came when Whedon pushed Gadot to record lines she didn’t like, threatened to harm Gadot’s career and disparaged Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins. While Fisher declines to discuss any of what transpired with Gadot, a witness on the production who later spoke to investigators says that after one clash, 'Joss was bragging that he’s had it out with Gal. He told her he’s the writer and she’s going to shut up and say the lines and he can make her look incredibly stupid in this movie.'”
Previously, Gadot had also told Variety that she had answered questions as part of the investigation of Whedon's behavior, but she said no further than that about what she had said to the investigators.
