For two years, the DCEU fanbase has been clamoring for the release of director Zack Snyder's version of Justice League. After much debate concerning whether or not the film actually existed, Snyder revealed that there are physical reels containing his original vision for the 2016 ensemble film.

Warner Bros. stated outright that it had no plans to release that version of the film, so fans have been throwing out a number of suggestions that would allow passionate interested audiences to see it. Commenting on Snyder's revelatory post on the unfinished cut, one fan joked, "Mate I beg you just forward me a copy... Don't worry I won't leak it." to which Snyder replied, "That's not a bad idea."

The former Justice League director has been quite open about his initial plans. In past interviews, he revealed that the film was supposed to introduce Darkseid, who would have served as the major antagonist across a Justice League trilogy. The Snyder Cut also briefly features cut characters such as Iris West, the Flash's classic romantic interest, as well as Vulko, who was ultimately made his first appearance in Aquaman (directed by James Wan).

Justice League was generally negatively received and failed to break even. Following the critical and financial failure of the theatrical release, Warner Bros. seemingly opted to go in a different direction with its shared universe.
