The "Justice/Doom War" is currently raging across the DC Universe. As Lex Luthor has his Legion of Doom tirelessly work to tip the cosmic scales of the universe in favor of doom, the Justice League has scattered both to the past and the future in the hopes of finding a piece of the Totality that will help them defeat the villainous Mother of the Multiverse, Perpetua. So far, the battle has been pretty much one-sided. While the Justice League is working hard to keep up with Luthor and the Legion, the supervillains have always been multiple steps ahead of the heroes.
Now, as the fight intensifies, unforeseen allies have joined the Justice League to help save all of reality. First, Aquaman returned to lend a helping hand in the past, while the Anti-Monitor, at one time the greatest evil in the DC Universe, chose to fight for justice and joined his brothers the Monitor and the World Forger to once again defeat their mother Perpetua.
But that's not all the reinforcements the superheroes are getting in this fight. In Justice League #33, the super-team gets a new member -- and he is the most powerful god imaginable.
Meet... the Ultra-Monitor
In Justice League #32, fans were hit with a big surprise when the Anti-Monitor chose to side with the Justice League instead of his mother. On his own, the Anti-Monitor is an incredibly powerful cosmic being, much like his two brothers, the Monitor and the World Forger. After all, each of them are, for all intents and purposes, gods of the DCU. But while we've seen a glimpse of what each of them can do, it turns out they are capable of so much more.
United, they are given a massive power boost by Starman, who gives them what energies of the Totality he possesses. With it, the three brothers become more powerful than even they have ever known. In fact, this boost creates an entirely new entity, and it leads to a Dragonball-like fusion of all three characters. Together, they now form the Ultra-Monitor.
Bearing the appearance of the Monitor, the modified armor of the Anti-Monitor and armed with a version of the World Forger's hammer, the Ultra-Monitor is easily the most powerful entity to fight alongside the Justice League -- or against it -- ever. Powered by the Totality and comprised of the Monitor, the World Forger and the Anti-Monitor, the Ultra-Monitor may be one of the most powerful beings in existence, rivaled only by its mother, Perpetua, who here was weakened thanks to her recent power expenditures and reawakening.
Now, the two all-powerful cosmic have just begun a battle for the fate of the whole Multiverse... a confrontation that is sure to make the entire cosmos quake.
