Justice League Dark, or JLD, is a group within the larger Justice League that focused on the magical and supernatural characters of the group. Characters like Zatanna, Madame Xanadu, Deadman, and John Constantine got to shine, with team members including tame vampires, ghosts, and even Frankenstein's monster. They might occasionally have a big name hero as a leader, like Wonder Woman, but this is a group focusing on monsters, in a manner of speaking, fighting other monsters.

DC Comics, in addition to their friendlier supernatural characters, also have quite a few dark demons and wicked witches, among other scary characters in their rogue gallery. Today, we're looking at the spooky and altogether ooky villains that Justice League Dark should team up against.

And although this is speculation, keep in mind that spoilers are bound to abound.

10 Queen Of Fables

In her first appearance, she was originally Snow White's wicked stepmother, one of the most famous "evil queens" in all of fiction. A powerful witch, it's implied she also used her shapeshifting powers to serve as other fairy tale villains as well. Eventually, her famous stepdaughter trapped her in a book. She's often an enemy of Wonder Woman, who she confuses for Snow White.

Later incarnations usually drop this backstory, instead making her a supervillain who can bring fictional characters to life. And remember, even fairy tales can get pretty Grimm. You don't want to get on the bad side of somebody who has Baba Yaga in her corner.

9 Scarecrow

Scarecrow, also known as Jonathan Crane, is a regular enemy of Batman and the self-proclaimed "Master of Fear." He specializes in psychology, experimental drugs, toxins, and how to exploit the fears of his victims. He's a villain that has no problems hurting or exploiting children, like when he mutated Colin Wilkes, a 10-year-old orphan, into becoming the monstrous Abuse.

In the end, nothing is darker than what lies hidden deep within the human psyche, so a villain who revels in darkness and fear would be perfect, at least thematically, to fight the Justice League Dark.

8 Dracula

Being a public domain character (technically a historical character), Dracula is a character that's appeared in a variety of comics, including DC media, where he's actually had quite a few different incarnations. Some readers, for example, might even remember that there was even an animated movie, The Batman vs. Dracula.

Justice League Dark even has a vampire on their team: recurring character Andrew Bennent, originating from the I…Vampire series. Vampires go to war all the time in media, so there's bound to be a rivalry that could be written up.

7 Allura

Zatanna Zatara, the Mistress of Magic, is a recurring and prominent member of Justice League Dark, often a de facto leader of the group, so it makes sense to have one of her old enemies make a comeback.

Allura was a powerful magic user, known as the Mistress of the Dark Elements, and was a powerful enemy of Zatanna and her father, Zatara, even forcing the father and daughter to be separated thanks to a powerful curse. In the original Zatanna comics, her conflict with Zatanna was an ongoing conflict with her, even going so far to steal her body and destiny. Her one bright spot is that she has a "good" alter-ego, a "sister," who tried to help the superheroine fight the "evil Allura."

6 Lilith

When it comes to bad girls, it sometimes helps to meet the original "bad girl." That is to say, Lilith; it helps that she's also the first "girl," too. Being a character from mythology, she's appeared in various DC Comics media in various incarnations, and it's sometimes hard to tell if she is even meant to be the same character.

One of her most notable appearances in the DC universe casts her as an enemy of Supergirl, where she proclaims herself, the "Demon Mother." She also appears in JLA, where she is shown to have dominion in the underworld, helping torture souls in the Circle of Hell. Throughout mythology and the fiction she's inspired, she's been reimagined as everything from the first witch to a vampire queen, so there is already a lot of material to work with.

5 Nekron

Nekron DC Comics

Nekron is the personification of death and darkness. He has the power to give just as much as he takes...which translates to reanimating the dead. He also moonlights as the leader and creator of the Black Lantern Corps.

Given that Justice League Dark has a few undead members, including a vampire, a ghost, and even Frankenstein's famous monster, seeing them going against someone with the powers of life and death in their hands would be quite a fight.

4 Victor Zsasz

Humans can be a lot scarier than the monsters in horror movies in spite of being, or sometimes because they're, human. Victor Zsasz is technically human, but he's one of the scariest DC supervillains: he's a supervillain, a criminal mastermind, and a serial killer. He also makes a tally in his own skin whenever he's claimed another life.

He does have one clear weakness: he will go berserk if he ever learns that one of his victims actually survived an attempt on their lives. After once fatally wounding Alfred Pennyworth, learning that his victim was rescued in time caused Zsasz to feel like his skin was crawling just because his tally was off by one. Just imagine the story potential of having this guy go after the Justice League Dark, a team with members of the undead...characters, who by definition, just can't stay dead.

3 Mad Hatter

When you have Frankenstein's Monster as a teammate, it just makes sense to include characters from classic literature. Technically, the Mad Hatter wasn't a villain in Lewis Carroll's classic book. And technically, the Mad Hatter isn't actually the original Mad Hatter. Jervis Tetch is an insane villain who obsesses over the fictional character (although some incarnations just have him be a guy obsessed with hats) who has strong mind-control and illusionary powers.

The truly scary thing about him is figuring out the limits of his power of control. The Justice League Dark is filled with powerful heroes who fortunately use their abilities for good. What if someone convinced them to be less than friendly with their gifts?

2 Tabitha

The Justice League Dark have already faced a number of famous witches, from Circe to Morgaine Le Fay, even Hecate herself. But let's not forget the time John Constantine went after a wicked witch who somehow managed to hide in the shadows with a positive reputation: Tabitha, who's implied to have once been Cinderella's Fairy Godmother, if her comment about vain girls wishing for glass shoes is anything to go by.

Originally a witch who was cursed with the power of wish fulfillment, Tabitha appears to be loving and sweet to her surrogate "godchildren," but she truly hates humans and hopes to use her charges as instruments of revenge, literally wishing to bring hellfire on Earth. She was also somehow able to survive centuries in Hell. Besides, isn't it thematically appropriate to have a villain who is all cuteness and light when your heroes are scary monsters acting against type?

1 Mister Mxyzptlk

Mister Mxyzptlk from DC Comics

Mister Mxyzptlk is an impish character known for having the power to warp reality to his will. Admittedly, he's often one of the more cartoonish villains in the DC universe.

But his powers are nothing to scoff at. It was his powers that managed to transform The Joker into Emperor Joker, a god-like being who performed daily holocausts just for a lark. A cosmic entity is not something to take lightly.
