WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Justice League Dark #26, by Ram V, Amancay Nahuelpan, June Chung and Rob Leigh, on sale now.

Justice League Dark has had a lot of problems regarding leadership recently, with Wonder Woman hesitant to grab the mantle. It didn't help that John Constantine was equally unwilling or that Zatanna was more focused on trying to revive her late father, Zatara. Couple all this with Swamp Thing refusing to help out in the past, it just doesn't seem like there's a real hero around who can truly lead the way.

However, this changes in Justice League Dark #26, when we see the bravest member of the group stepping up to assemble the heroes for what could be a suicide mission. However, it's not quite who we had anticipated as this person is none other than Bobo, Detective Chimp.

In retrospect, it does make sense, because he's the one constant that just doesn't give up. Bobo's defies the odds in most of his stories, and this comes up once more as he charges headfirst against the Upside Down Man in the Other Place. But unlike Wonder Woman, Zatanna, the upgraded Swamp Thing and Constantine, he doesn't have as much power; he just has his wit, the Nightmaster's sword and his people skills.

Most of all, he has belief -- the force that drives magic across all realms -- and that's what Bobo and the team really needs. The underdog hero wastes no time in rescuing John from Madame Xanadu, recruiting Man-Bat and also, bringing Khalid Nassour's Dr. Fate into play. This is an act of bravery in and of itself, but Bobo still trusts the path Zatara laid out for them and that Wonder Woman and Zatanna will be ready to help them out in the Other Place.

And when those mystical heroes link up with Bobo's team, they combine to form quite a formidable unit. The crew trusts Bobo as he leads by example, staring down death with just a blade. It's a brilliant sight because he embodies everything about a noble knight that Nightmaster told him of in the past, and the way he rallies the heroes says a lot.

It makes him more than just comedic relief as he embodies the biggest power of all: heart. Even when he doesn't believe in himself, Bobo often risks life and limb. Luckily, his teammates will march behind him to their deaths as they're in awe at his fearless nature. Unfortunately, Constantine falls in battle after the Upside Down Man blasts him. But even if Bobo might lose his best friend, Detective Chimp could still be the leader that the Justice League Dark needs.
