Wonder Woman 1984 star Connie Nielsen, who portrays Queen Hippolyta of the Amazons in the DC Extended Universe, gave Zack Snyder her approval to release Zack Snyder's Justice League after he agreed to her two conditions.

"Zack had already called me to ask if I would be okay with a reissue of the film with changes," she told THR. "And I asked him, 'Well, will you bring back the Amazon chapter the way you had written it and had filmed it?' And he said, 'Absolutely.' And then I said, 'And Zack, will you also bring back my quite incredible stunt, running up the walls?' And he said, 'You got it.' So I said, 'Yeah, definitely. You've got my blessing. Absolutely.'"

Hippolyta and the Amazons don't play a large role in Justice League. However, they are seen in the flashback battle between Steppenwolf's forces and the alliance between Man, Atlantean and Amazon. They are later attacked by Steppenwolf in the present in their home of Themyscira, where they are hiding one of the Mother Boxes.

The announcement of the Snyder Cut ended the two-and-a-half-year movement that pushed for its release. It began when the film first premiered in theaters following reports that Snyder's version of the movie had been heavily altered by Warner Bros. and new director Joss Whedon after Snyder had to step down due to a family tragedy. Many blame those two parties for the film's subpar critical reception and argue that Snyder's product is far superior and fits more coherently with his previous two films in the DCEU canon: Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes - Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash - it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. Zack Snyder's Justice League will premiere exclusively on HBO Max in March 2021.
