While Henry Cavill's Superman never wore the fan-favorite black version of his suit in the final theatrical version of last year's Justice League, one intrepid fan has edited a trailer for the DCEU film show the character in the comic book-inspired alternate costume.

Using footage from the ensemble film as well as 2016's Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, fan Chris Dawson has created a mock trailer showing the Last Son of Krypton wearing the black regeneration suit following his resurrection in the film.

The black Kryptonian regeneration suit first seen in the pages of 1993's Superman: Man of Steel #25 written by Louise Simonson and illustrated by Jon Bogdanove, was reportedly included in director Zack Snyder's original version of the DCEU film only to be removed following the filmmaker's replacement by Joss Whedon during postproduction.

An instant favorite with fans, the black and silver outfit helped a newly resurrected Clark Kent regain his strength following his death at the hands of the villainous Doomsday.

And with Cavill's status on returning to the DCEU as the Man of Steel still unknown, this fan trailer might be the closest thing audiences get to seeing Cavill don the black costume at all.
