Fearing the power of the Justice League if they ever went rogue, Steve Trevor formed his own version of the team that became the new Justice League of America. 2005’s Countdown to Infinite Crisis event revealed that Lord had plans to use metahumans to take over the world. When Blue Beetle discovered his true plans, he was shot and killed by Maxwell Lord. In one of the most controversial Justice League stories, Ra’s al Ghul stole Batman’s plans and used them against the Justice League, nearly killing them. The League forgave Batman, though it took a while to rebuild their trust. His paranoia later led him to help create the Brother Eye satellite, which gained sentience and turned against Batman in the Infinite Crisis event.
