WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Justice League #17, on sale Feb. 6.

Say it ain't so! Lex Luthor couldn't have killed Jarro!!

According to CBR's exclusive preview of Justice League #17, that would certainly appear to be the case, though it's difficult to believe writer Scott Snyder would write off the newly-introduced fan-favorite version of the League's classic villain, Starro. After all, J'onn J'onzz surely knew that trickery was a possibility when he invited Luthor to meeting in order to ask the villain for help.

As for what the help is, we're told it involves the mysterious Legionnaires Club Lex's father was once a member of, a group who had kidnapped the Martian Manhunter when he was a child. J'onn apparently believes an unnamed member of the group holds the key to helping save the Multiverse, though we'll have to wait for the full issue to arrive later this week to learn who that is, and why they're so important.

Check out CBR"s preview below, along with the issue's solicitation text. Justice League #17, by Scott Snyder, Jim Cheung and Mark Morales, arrives in stores Wednesday, Feb. 6.
