Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Sequel Short Is Now Online

The announcement of a Jurassic World short film came suddenly when director Colin Trevorrow revealed the poster and cast on social media. The eight-minute long short aired on FX on Sunday, but don't worry if you weren't able to catch it on television. The entire short, "Battle at Big Rock," is now available online.

The short film takes place a year after Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which saw the dinosaurs of Isla Nublar unleashed upon the American continent. "Battle at Big Rock" starts off pleasantly enough. We see a family and their friends gathered around a campfire, just enjoying the evening, when suddenly the camp is beset by a family of hungry Nasutoceratopses as well as a lurking Allosaurus...

Colin Trevorrow revealed "Battle at Big Rock" was filmed in secret on the Powercourt Estate in Ireland back in 2018. He wrote it with Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim: Uprising), his writing partner on the upcoming Jurassic World 3, which -- according to Trevorrow -- will continue to explore the aftermath of the dinosaurs' release at the end of Fallen Kingdom.

The short film stars André Holland (Moonlight), Natalie Martinez (Self/Less), Melody Hurd and Pierson Salvador as the family of campers. It is uncertain whether or not these characters will appear in future films or if the events of the short film will be referenced.

Directed by Colin Trevorrow, Jurassic World 3, starring Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt, is set to be released on June 11, 2021.
